The Art Project Is Complete!

This morning when Grace woke up she was totally excited to see if her horse from the glitter project we did last night was dry.  Sure enough it was.  I told her while she was eating breakfast if after she was ready for school there was time she could finish it.  That got her engines rolling!  I think I need a project every morning.  Ha!

With only 15 minutes before the bus was due she started coloring her glitter horse. 

She was so excited that she took it to school to show it to her class.  I asked her if she wanted to hang it downstairs or in her room.  She totally choose her room.  : )  I would have too! 

I got on google and searched where you can buy these at.  They are called Create & Color Glitter Horses with glitter lava ice.  They are for ages 4 and up.  I enjoyed them and Grace did too.  As far as making a mess, all you need is a garbage bag to place underneath your working space.  The "lava" is the only mess.  It just feels really gooey.  It actually makes it more fun!  I did find this online.  Click HERE to check it out.  I was a little surprised by the price, but Grace received it as a gift.  Amazon had it priced at $19.99  Perhaps Wal-Mart or Target sells the kits.

Less T.V And More Crafts

How much t.v and video games do you allow in your home?  I work 3 -4 days a week and even when I am not working I rarely watch any t.v during the day.  I do watch more t.v in the evenings.  Some evenings I can watch zero and others I can sit and watch 2 or 3 hours. 

I will admit, I have gotten in the bad habit of allowing Grace, my 7 year-old watch t.v. upstairs or play her DSi when I know there is something I want to watch.  I don't like that I do that.  With all the technology today, if it is something I really need to watch I can record the silly show and spend more time with my daughter. 

I have just noticed in the past 2 or 3 months she has been getting into certain shows and wanting to record them.  I have seen her get upset when she misses a show.  Not a stomping, crying outburst, but she sure wasn't happy.  To me that is loving your television too much.  There are so many other things we could be doing. 

Tonight we had a talk.  I told her all her shows she recorded would be deleted.  At first I could tell she wasn't a fan, but it really didn't bother her.  I told her we would be doing more activities, together and watching less t.v.  She really was alright with it.  Who wouldn't want to spend more time with me!  : ) 

Here was the project we did tonight.  It is called Create & Color Glitter Horses.  She got it for a classmate for her birthday.  Super fun way to make sun catchers.

Trying to get the "glitter lava ice" on the horse was not very easy.  It was very sticky, but fun!

The horse all done and waiting to dry.  Tomorrow  we will color with the special markers.  Grace was so excited!  I love that!!

Valentine's Day - What Are Your Kids Getting?

Today has been a pretty busy day around the Sutton home.  I am by no means complaining, I like busy.  It's just when Doug and I were sitting down (he took a break from painting, I was eating a sandwich) we realized we had not gotten anything for Grace for Valentine's Day.  Honestly this is not the end of the world, but I did want to have something for her. 
With both of us working all day tomorrow we were trying to figure out what to get her.  I thought of letting her pick a place to eat after karate tomorrow, but then I remembered I had dinner already planned.  Plus I didn't feel like eating out.  Doug suggested me running into Walgreen's and getting a card and something little like candy or whatever.  I don't like the "whatever" gifts.  Why buy something unless you put some thought into it or the person wants or needs it.  To me it is just a waste of money. 
Then I remembered Grace commenting on her wanting some more Avon's Naturals Shower Gel.  She loves using this when she showers.  So, I got the idea of letting her look through my Avon books, picking a couple items out and then we would go from there.  She was pumped.  I was convinced she would want more shower gel, but instead she found this.

She was a little bummed that she won't get them until next Tuesday, but she is totally excited, I am too.  She will look adorable in these.  I am thinking maybe a card with some music in it to bring a smile to my sweethearts face for this Valentine's Day while she waits.  : )

What Exactly Is A School Yard Crush?

Today as my daughter and I are eating lunch together she tells me she has a crush on Jayden.  I respond with a smile, "Oh you do?"  It is almost like she has been waiting to tell me this for weeks.  The excitement in her face was too fun!  I then asked her what she thought a crush was.  She said a crush was when you ask someone else to do something for you everyday.  I couldn't help but continue to smile.  She then said that only girls could have crushes on boys and boys could only have crushes on girls.  Too funny!  She then ends our talk by telling me who has a crush on her.  (smiling the entire time)  Grace says he used to bully her, but now he is my crush. 

Oh dear, trying to figure out my daughter and she is only 7.  I can hardly wait until the teenage years.  Where a crush actually becomes a crush and so much more!  I actually loved this conversation.  Sweet, fun and so full of life.  Just like my Grace!!
