Cardinals Ticket Pricing We Could Be Seeing A Change

With living in St. Louis many of us love our baseball and we love the Cardinals.  As I was watching the news tonight they talked about how the Cardinals have announced a flexible pricing system known as Dynamic Ticket Pricing. It is similar to the system airlines use to sell seats on board airplanes.

"It really is like the airline model where the farther out you buy, the more likelihood you have of getting the lowest fare," said Dan Farrell, the Cardinals Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing.

But Farrell says the price for any seat in Busch Stadium may cost more, or less, than it will on game day. A seat in a certain section may cost more for a Cubs game than it does when the Marlins come to town. And the ticket price for a seat may go up or down depending on the day of the week the game is played, and the weather.

Farrell says it's all about supply and demand. Dynamic ticket pricing allows the Cardinals to sell tickets they may not otherwise sell, and charge a premium for seats in games where demand is high.

"It gives us the ability to monitor how sales are going, what areas people are buying tickets, and make adjustments accordingly," said Farrell.

The program also includes the Dynamic Deal of the Day.  That sounds pretty exciting.  On the Cardinal website each day there will be a different daily offer.  This is where we can we some great bargains and good values.  I like the sound of that!!

Although ticket prices will go down, as well as up, they will never drop below the price season ticket holders paid.  The Cardinals are the second major league team to use dynamic pricing.  The first were the San Francisco Giants, last year.

So, does this change how much you will be going to the ball games?  Do you think you will still attend less or more games due to the dynamic pricing?

To read the entire story please feel free to click HERE.  Also, don't forget to check out the Dynamic Deal of the Day.  Bookmark this page, so you can check back every day for the new deal.

Strange Dances And Long Flights By Patricia M. Stockland

Today Grace and I learned about which type a squirrel uses their tails for shade, which type of fish swim as far as 930 miles to have their babies and other fun & fascinating facts about animals in her new book from the library.
The book is called Strange Dances and Long Flights A Book About Animal Behaviors.  Written by Patricia M. Stockland and Illustrated by Todd Ouren.  Grace and I had a lot of fun reading this book.  The pictures were great and the information was awesome!  There were some facts I was not aware of.  We had a fun time reading it together.

Her favorite part was the back of the book.  There were quizzes, fun facts and glossary words.  I love books that give you fun ways to learn and remember the facts and information your children just read.

It also gives you a web site to visit to learn more about safe, web sites related to the book.  If interested you can check out the Facthound home page.

While Grace and I were checking these pages out we came across a web site that was pretty cool.  It is called Capstone Kids.com    There are word searches, games, puzzles, projects, recipes and many more activities.  Grace loved it for the word searches.  We didn't get any further than that.  It was lunch time.  I encourage you to check it out with your kids.

Alcohol Infused Whipped Cream

Have you heard of Alcohol Infused Whipped Cream?  I hadn't until Doug told me today.  I don't know if I am more excited or concerned.  Part of me says Oh let's try it, what flavors should we get? And yet there is another part asking why? and why??

It's called Cream and you can get it in 6 different flavors.  Orange, Cherry, Chocolate, Raspberry, Caramel and Vanilla.  Cream can be used straight up in a shot glass or to top off your favorite shots or mixed drink.  Sounds actually pretty good, doesn't it?

Some comments you may hear if you get hooked on the "Cream".
  • "No officer I haven't been drinking.  Just a few cans of whipped cream."
  • "Man, Julie sure is acting odd, what is wrong with her?"  "Oh she has been hitting the whipped cream pretty hard!"
All and all I am going to try some, how about you?  If you want to check out this new crazy fun party experience, click HERE

My New Favorite Show

Academy Award winner Kathy Bates stars in the title role about how people can embrace the unexpected and other curve balls that life can throw at them.  Emmy Award-writing writer/producer David E. Kelley is behind this amazing new legal drama that I am now calling my new favorite show.

I was flipping through the channels Sunday evening and noticed Harry's Law was on.  I recalled commercials advertising it several months back and saying how it looked so good.  I started watching it and immediately loved it .  There were two shows on back-to-back and I watched them both.  The fact that it mixes a show about law and order, and humor plus to me it was very interesting.  Thumbs up!!

I don't think the shows reviews are doing the best.  It has been running since I believe the middle on January.  I hope the reviews pick up and others check it out.  So, next Monday at 9pm (central) set your DVR or just plan on watching it.  Let me know what you think.

Harriet "Harry" Korn (Kathy Bates) doesn't believe things happen for a reason, but she discovers that they sometimes do. A stubborn  Cincinnatii patent attorney who gets fired from her job at a big firm, mainly because she stopped caring about her work. Through a series of coincidental accidents, she decides to open a jack-of-all-trades legal office in an abandoned shoe store in a developing neighborhood, thus forcing her to start a fresh start.  She finds it when her world unexpectedly collides, literally, with Malcolm Davies (Aml Ameen), a kind-hearted college student who desperately needs Harry's help with his pending court case, and he subsequently goes to work for her.

In this office, Bates is joined by her perky assistant Jenna (Bittany Storm), who knows what to do with the shoes the last tenant left behind, and junior associate Adam (Nate Corddry), who left his huge firm out of admiration for Harry, as well as a desire to change things up after a huge break-up.

Plus Harry's Law also has Paul McCrane (ER) I don't know why, but I love him as an actor. He is a little annoying in Harry's Law and I think that is what I enjoy about his character.  In ER he was like that to.  mean, angry, grumpy man, but also could be a sweet, tender-hearted soul. (on a rare occasion.)

What Strange Habits Do You Have?

As I sit here in a house that was minutes ago loud and hopping I am soaking in the silence.  Enjoying "my time" to relax and do what I want.  I love this time at night.  I get up to get a glass of water and also grab a piece of gum.  Well, maybe not just one piece.  How about I grab the entire pack. You never know...

Yes sir, that is my strange, weird habit.  I like to chew several pieces of gum at once.  I always did this as a child.  Not that strange, at least I don't think it was.   As children we would do silly things with food, drinks or gum.  Anything we could put in our mouth.  Maybe ate too much or maybe not enough or just plain playing with it.  I remember my mom would get frustrated because I would always chew all her gum.  She would carry at least on pack of Doublemint (5 sticks) in her purse and during church I would get into it.  My daughter is the complete opposite.  She loves gum, but I can only get her to chew her gum for 10 -15 minutes and it's only one piece.  Thank goodness she doesn't take after me on that!

Well, I grew up and the habit never really changed.  Anytime I would have a piece of gum I would usually have 2.  It was not until I quit smoking (2000) that I think the "gum habit" started back up again.  Perhaps I did it out of habit with a mixture of getting over quitting smoking.  I am sure I needed something to take the place of cigarettes and I didn't want that replacement to be food or candy.  All I know is I love gum.  Most the time I cannot chew just one piece of gum.

Now, listen, I don't want you thinking I walk around with this huge wad of gum in my mouth.  I at least have manors.  I usually only do this crazy gum ritual at home and in the evening.  Does that make it any better?

So, what crazy, strange and different habits do you have?  Something that your friends or family have always told you is different, but you don't think is that strange?  Ah come on.  I told you mine.  Let's hear yours!

Late Night Snowboarding

Are you ever asked the question, "Got any big plans for the weekend?"  And you just say no, not really.  Then end up having a pretty awesome weekend?  Don't you love it when that happens?!  I do!  Yesterday Grace had her taekwondo class and put herself one step closer to earning her Green-1st belt.  Go Grace!!  Then Doug's parents offered to take us out to eat to my favorite restaurant, Olive Garden.  Love that place!!  Great food, time and with wonderful people.  How could you go wrong?

Then we all went to Sam's Club in Chesterfield to do my weekly routine and get my 3 newspapers for coupons.  Picked up a few other items and Doug's mom bought us a cheesecake (my favorite)!!

We all then came home, the cousins (Grace and Marcus) played and we talked.  It was a great fun, family day!  I love those!  Ten minutes before they were leaving Dave (Doug's Dad) decided it was necessary to go snowboarding.  lol  It was pretty awesome.

Marcus is a pro.  Grace is still in training.

Through My Child's Eyes...Random Photos

The adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" which we are all familiar with.  What does this really mean?  Basically, a picture tells a story just as well as a large amount of descriptive text.  A picture can tell many different stories.  Pictures can say so many different things, but to me sometimes a picture is one of the best ways to capture memories we all love and try to hold on to.

For Christmas we got Grace her own digital camera.  We bought her a cheap camera when she was four and she played with it until the day she opened her new one.  Grace loves taking pictures!  I love that!  I think one of the best things you can do is give a child a camera and see where it takes them.  Seeing what a child really sees.  I love seeing the pictures Grace takes.  Grace also has a DSi which has a camera.  Some days she will take up to 100 pictures.  Love it!!
